ADI, the event LED specialists, have worked with British Gymnastics to supply creative and unique screens for the Gymnastics British Championships (14 -17 March) and Gymnastics World Cup (23 rd March). High-resolution modular displays featured at both the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool and Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena during the televised events.
To deliver an engaging sports presentation ADI installed a super-wide 32:9 aspect ratio screen, 122.5m sq in size and featuring 6mm resolution. Creating a dramatic backdrop to the competition floor, the screen was configured to offer multiple pictures in picture formats, including 2 x 16:9 windows side by side, 1 x 16:9 window on a 32:9 background, and a cinematic style 32:9 with full-screen graphics or VT.
Outside the venue, ticket-holders were greeted by a revolving Epoch 15 mobile LED screen, displaying event branding and information, alongside sponsor activation on its unique screen that seamlessly switches between landscape and portrait formats.
The Birmingham-based arena also featured a large, high-resolution modular screen to provide dynamic image magnification and sports presentation for the international competition. The 60m display, featuring 6mm product, displayed multiple live data feeds and timings to keep spectators informed and engaged throughout the course of the day.
Ben Willcox, Event Technology Manager for British Gymnastics, commented, “ADI has been able to meet our requirements for both events, supplying large-scale, unique screens inside and outside the venues. The screens are crucial to the live experience for fans and ticket-holders, so it’s essential we work alongside experts in the field.”
Nick Robinson, ADI’s Screen Rental Director, commented: “We’ve developed an incredible range of solutions for live sport environments, with some of the largest screens we’ve ever built featuring at the biggest events on the international gymnastics circuit. As the quality of sports presentation increases the platforms for delivery must also evolve, which not only means using high res LED but adding wow factor, with aspect ratios beyond
traditional 16:9 and creative play-out solutions.”
