Green-GO Ensures Clear Comms for Guess Event

The EMME team's control position setup.

EMME recently made its first investment in Green-GO digital intercom technology, to manage the complex intercom requirements for a corporate event for fashion brand Guess. The event, a presentation of the company’s latest clothing ranges, was livestreamed to 600 sales staff worldwide.

EMME Founder and Director, Michele Alvarez, said: “In the past we used combinations of partyline systems, but the quality was not the same, and it was not so flexible. We could only assign certain body packs to certain connections, and it would be very complicated to make changes during a show.”

Looking for a better solution, Alvarez turned to ZAP Audio, Green-GO’s Swiss distributor, who arranged a demonstration of the award-winning technology. “We saw that it was very smart, very powerful and the best solution for the price and performance,” he said. “We needed only one test, to say ‘Okay, this is the right system for us’.”

The presentation was staged across two levels of the Padiglione Conza Convention Centre in Lugano. One level was used to enable adequate distancing between dressers, models, cameras and catwalk, while the second level housed the technical infrastructure, including multiple PCs connected to the Zoom video-conferencing platform. Such a distanced setup made the need for flexible and reliable intercom even more essential. “It was very important for us to have the Green-GO system because it gives us so much flexibility,” said Alvarez.

The EMME team deployed a combination of both Wired (BPX) and Wireless (WBPX) Green-GO bodypacks. “We had no issues at all with the wireless,” said Alvarez, “and the audio quality was very good – there was no noise. With double headphones, you don’t lose a word of what happens on the stage. That’s always important, especially on a rock and roll show. If the sound is not pure and clean, nine or ten hours in headphones is not easy.”

In setting up his first ever Green-GO system, Alvarez made two calls to Flavio Rüdy at ZAP Audio, who helped to answer his queries. “This was my first time configuring a Green-GO system, so Flavio was very helpful,” said Alvarez, adding, “ZAP provided the system at very short notice – we placed the order just 10 days before we needed it. Even during the project, I asked for two more wireless body packs and four more wired body packs, and they delivered.”

The full system purchased by EMME includes six Wireless Beltpack X and 12 Wired Beltpack X, along with two antennas, an MCXD Multi-Channel Desk Station and an InterfaceX unit, which enables the integration of two-wire or four-wire analogue intercom systems into the Green-GO digital Ethernet network. Alvarez is confident the system will prove to be a huge benefit for future projects.

“We are impressed by the flexibility and the quality of the system,” he concluded. “The configuration is easy and even complicated projects can be set up quickly. We are very happy with our investment and we would recommend Green-GO without any reservation.”
