Designed in collaboration with Brescia University’s Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and engineered by Outline, Globe Source Radiator (GSR) is a new tool designed for acoustic analysis.
Optimised acoustics are a prerequisite of many modern buildings, their acoustic properties determine how well they are able to perform their core purpose. Accurate and reliable test data is essential for those engaged in the design and construction of these spaces: a powerful omnidirectional sound source is vital to assist in the testing of acoustic insulation of internal walls, floor slabs, and insulation from the external environment, plus the acoustic properties of any internal space where sonic performance is important. Step forward, GSR.
GSR’s usefulness extends also into automotive, industrial, scientific, commercial and other areas, since numerous essential acoustic parameters may be derived from measurements made using it as a sound source: Clarity Indices (C50, C80), Intelligibility Indices (AlCons, STI, RASTI etc.), Reverberation Time (RT60), Early Decay Time (EDT), Soundproofing Power, Impulse Response and Intensity (G) and others may be determined. The GSR is also fully ISO10140, ISO354, ISO3382 and DIN 52210 compliant.
GSR’s design combines a robust spherical enclosure with an Ergal aluminium inner structure that houses twelve 5” neodymium-magnet transducers and is the first such device to include a bass reflex design to extend its frequency response.
Its unique ‘globe’ design eliminating diffractions, reflections and other anomalies caused by non-spherical radiators, which can compromise the accuracy of data measurement.
GSR is capable of producing a maximum SPL of over 130.3 dB, a figure far in advance of any other comparable product presently available and a remarkable output from a spherical loudspeaker only 31 cm in diameter.
GSR is available as a part of a complete user-ready kit, comprising a GSR, an NG01 Noise Generator, Outline’s compact amplifier, L3000 and cables, a transportation bag and a set of mounting accessories, providing a portable setup ready for immediate deployment. A dedicated self-powered subwoofer kit is also available and is suitable for applications where measurements of low frequency data are required.
