Peavey Electronics enters the podcast circuit with the launch of the Peavey Monitor, a podcast show dedicated to the people and stories behind the company. Powered by Peavey, this behind-the-scenes podcast will tell the stories of individuals who contribute to making the Peavey machine run, including employees, artists, and industry personnel, and highlight new developments across the Peavey portfolio.
At Peavey, all roads lead back to the musician. It’s this passion for quality and reliability that drives the company’s spirit of innovation. Peavey Monitor host Fred Poole, General Manager of North American Sales and Product Development at Peavey Electronics, began his career at the company in 2002 as Regional Sales Manager; he’s also an enthusiastic bass player. “From the engineers to the salespeople to the customer service reps, everyone here is involved with the gear and is passionate about it,” Poole explained.
In Peavey Monitor Episode 1, Fred interviews Elon Coats, a Senior Engineer at Peavey, just before Elon is set to retire. Elon was involved in a multitude of projects during his 26 years at Peavey, and was awarded four patents while working on the groundbreaking Peavey Kosmos processors. He loved coming to work at Peavey every day, and his creativity was often sparked by his fellow engineers in a welcoming and collaborative environment.
“You can really put your heart into something if you really love it,” said Coats, who began his audio engineering journey at a young age by making his own amps, pedals, and mixers. He still plays guitar in a church band. “If you’re a musician, you love music so when you’re designing something, you want it the best it can be because you want something that you love, not just something that will sell.”
Echoing this sentiment, Fred wants people to know the stories behind the products and the people who make a difference at Peavey. The same engineers who work on the most high-profile projects are developing entry-level products for everyday musicians. Ultimately, the team develops solutions because they care and not just because they’re focused on the bottom line.
Fred and Elon also highlight some recent developments in the Peavey family of brands, including Trace Elliot compressors and pedals as well as pre-amp innovations in the Crest Audio Tactus digital mixing system. Future Peavey Monitor episodes will share similar insights and provide tremendous value to listeners, from gear geeks and audiophiles to Peavey enthusiasts and industry professionals.
