SLX has announced the launch of its repackaged student support scheme, The Lighting Programme, and is scouting for ambitious and tenacious students of lighting design and technical production.
Four deserving winners will be hand-picked to receive the full benefit of the Programme’s mentorship opportunities, equipment for creative projects, and networking opportunities, which include introductions to leading manufacturers.
The Lighting Programme, now open for applications, builds upon SLX’s previous ‘Student Bursary’ scheme, but with the all-important addition of high value facets of support, knowledge, and experience direct from the entire team at SLX. The programme is led by SLX’s business development manager, Ruari Cormack and sales team manager, Katy Lowe, who offer a wealth of experience from working in the field, from a variety of roles and across many disciplines.
SLX CEO, Alastair Currie stated: “More than ever, we want to continue to build positive networks and opportunities for up-and-coming talent, lighting the way for those looking to build careers in our industry. That is where The Lighting Programme comes in.
“We recognised that the key value in our programme was the mentorship, the access to specialist knowledge, the experience of working directly with a hire company, and also the network that we could introduce individuals too. Student Bursary alumni have gone on to secure permanent roles or paid projects thanks to connections made on the scheme.”
The closing date for applications is set for 30 June 2021. Applicants must be undergraduates studying lighting design or technical theatre, in the UK, who will be in their second or third year in September 2021. There are four spaces available for the 2021-2022 cohort.
