Northwest based technical production supplier, Sterling Event Group, has invested in Sennheiser’s latest Digital 6000 series to further enhance its audio offering.

Having grown the business substantially in recent years, Sterling, who supply services to the live events industry, wanted to further increase and enhance its audio fleet to complement their other recent kit investments.

The investment including Sennheiser EM 6000 digital 2-channel receivers, Sennheiser SKM 6000 handheld transmitters with Sennheiser MD 9235 capsules, Sennheiser SK 6000 beltpacks and Sennheiser L 6000 charging stations will allow Sterling to futureproof its inventory and offer clients a digital solution. As part of the company’s investment, Sterling have also purchased additional Sennheiser 2000 Series IEMs to further increase its current stock.

Sterling’s Head of Audio Ben Marshall commented: “With increased restrictions on the available spectrum for radio microphones and In-Ear Monitors we needed a solution to give us the channels we require even in the most challenging RF environments. By utilising Sennheiser Digital 6000 which is intermodulation free we can place frequencies in an equidistant frequency grid to maximise channel counts without issue. We have also found the 6000 series to be both rider and sub-hire friendly satisfying our live production and dry hire clients.”

Marshall continued: “The ability to incorporate the EM 6000 receivers into a redundant Dante network and have parameters such as battery and RF level information displayed on CL and QL mixing consoles is also a huge advantage.”

“Sterling has fully embraced Digital 6000,” commented Mark Haigh, Channel Sales Manager for Sennheiser UK’s Pro Audio Solutions division. “It’s great to see them onboarding staff with training sessions and using the product. It will undoubtedly give them more flexibility in our ever-changing RF landscape, and ultimately help broaden their customer-base”.

A main motivator for the investment is a feature that is particularly important for corporate use and that is the switchable AES 256 encryption. Sterling MD Richard Bowden said “With our involvement in a number of party conferences and other events involving sensitive client information we have had a requirement for an encrypted wireless solution. The 6000 series provides this along with the highest quality audio and integration with our Dante networks.”
