VUE Audiotechnik has announced the release of their latest technical documentation in form of a white paper for the al-Class, covering the development of line array loudspeakers from the 1930’s work of Wolfe, I. and Malter, L. on “Directional Radiation of Sound”, through Continuous Source Topology (CST) technology as applied in the VUE al-Class systems. The paper offers an in-depth view of VUE’s guiding engineering principles used to build upon the existing body of work to bring line array design to the next level.

In the Acoustic Linearity White Paper the VUE team, headed by Michael Adams (Design Chief), details how the al-Class systems achieve a consistent acoustical signature regardless of acoustic elements selected. Additionally the paper covers all system engineering topics including horn design, transducer technology, amplifier and dsp integration, VLF (Very Low Frequency) Support Platforms, control software, beam forming and suspension methods.

The paper is intended to enable sound designers, audio consultants and systems engineers better comprehend the latest advancements in vertical array systems and their deployment.

“As the live sound market becomes exceedingly sophisticated, understanding the technologies that push the status quo is increasingly important for consultants, integrators and end-users,” explained Michael Adams, Chief Engineer for VUE Audiotechnik. “This white paper explores all the critical pieces of a complete line array solution, focusing on achieving optimal performance (in the field) beyond simply tackling sound pressure level.”

VUE al-Class family of line arrays is the practical application of Acoustic Linearity. Our guiding engineering principles and system design platforms coupled with practical suspension techniques ensure a consistent acoustical signature, regardless of the combination of al-Class acoustic elements selected. Advanced DSP and networking connectivity have been integrated into the entire al-Class, ensuring an advanced yet intuitive user interface in SystemVUE Software, enabling professional sound system specialists in both portable and fixed applications to reliably design event- or venue-specific solutions.
