Women In Live Music has crowned this year’s WILM Awards (WILMA) winners, with sound engineer, Ira Lobanok of Lviv, Ukrain taking home the WILMA Outstanding Award for her charity work with Musicians Defend Ukraine.
The WILM Awards is an opportunity to highlight and pay tribute to the work of women in the live music industry, as well as providing a platform for the next generation of winners.
This year, 197 names made the shortlist across 33 different categories covering production, logistics and the technical fields backstage this year. Almost 8,000 votes were registered with nominations for over 300 female crew members throughout Europe – with CVs ranging from The Cure, Simply Red, and Rammstein, representing firms such as Britannia Row Prodictions, Neg Earth, and Ginger Owl Productions, among others.
In addition, engineers and technicians were nominated for their work on large-scale festival sites such as Denmark’s Northside, Germany’s Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, and more.
“A big congrats to all nominees, this is a great sign of more diversity backstage!” WILM co-founder, Malle Haas told TPi.
During the awards evening, there was an auction featuring Katie Frost’s photography work. The money raised went directly to Musicians Defend Ukraine Foundation.
