Allen & Heath Helps Sigrid Take the UK by Storm

dLive C3500 and FOH Jan Thomas Halsvik - Sigrid UK tour, Jordan McLachlan

Since she achieved international success in 2017 with the single Don’t Kill My Vibe, Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid has recently completed her biggest UK tour yet supported by the Allen & Heath dLive system.

The tour utilised a multi-surface set-up comprising of an Allen & Heath dLive C3500 on FOH and an Allen & Heath dLive C1500 on the monitors. An Allen & Heath DM32 MixRack fitted with an Allen & Heath gigaACE module that was located on stage and controlled both FOH and MON duties, with the configuration which provided 64 channels to both FOH and MON engineers with discrete processing. Additionally, an Allen & Heath DX168 expander was used to increase the analogue I/O count onstage.

“We originally chose the C1500 surface due to its fly-in possibilities and the fact it carries the same powerful engine that the larger surfaces use. The multiband compression and dynamic EQ’s are also great features. We then acquired the DM32 MixRack because of its I/O slots and easy use with both Dante and digital splits,” commented Jan Thomas Halsvik, FOH Engineer. “For Sigrid’s shows, we usually just bring our C1500 and DM32, however for this run we needed an extra C3500 surface due to the size of the tour and I wanted more control at FOH on fewer layers.”

Monitor Engineer, Sigri Hovde added: “The thing I like the most about the dLive, apart from the obvious sound quality, was the flexibility and seamlessness of adding different racks, modules or option cards – such as Dante and gigaACE – for the multi-surface solution.” Sigrid has reached new heights, with multiple sold-out shows and regular major festival appearances. Earlier in 2018, Sigrid was announced as the BBC’s Sound of 2018. In 2019 she has planned performances alongside acclaimed artists including George Ezra and Maroon 5.

Halsvik continued: “The ease of dLive is great and I love the opportunities for system expansion. Having the possibility to add analogue inputs easily via the DX ports has proven very valuable too and is one of the main reasons we purchased our dLive C1500. Also, being able to use just one MixRack and still have a full Mon-split is essential for us and then being able to just add a split to a second rack and a mixer without any problem is incredible.”
