Vero Shield, a new female-owned company and part of the Dodd Technologies family in Pendleton, Indiana, has acquired Luxibel UV-C disinfection systems for its inventory, supplied by ACT Lighting.
Vero Shield offers custom turnkey solutions that enable businesses, employees and customers to gather in a safe and comfortable environment during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.
“Vero Shield is the first extension of the Dodd brand in its almost 40 years as a production and staging company,” said Mark Dodd, President and CEO of Dodd Technologies. “When the pandemic started putting so many people out of business we looked at technologies that already existed or were being developed or modified, which could get people back to work again. No single technology will do it all on its own; you need a multi-layered solutions approach that will empower live events and other industries and environments that rely on people gathering together. That’s the Vero Shield concept, and Luxibel products are one of the tools we’re using.”
Vero Shield invested in Luxibel B Direct II double direct UV-C radiators with reflectors, which it combines with rolling stands and other installation mechanics for easy and effective use.
UV-C ultraviolet light is germicidal, breaking apart germ DNA and leaving it unable to function or reproduce. It can even neutralise “superbugs” that have developed a resistance to antibiotics. These properties make UV-C lighting products easy, cost-effective solutions for both permanent installation and portable markets that need to disinfect and sanitise a wide array of venues.
The B Direct II unit disinfects air and surfaces, prevents secondary infections and eliminates bacteria, viruses and fungal and mould spores in the air. All of Luxibel’s direct radiating fixtures have standard double security with a moving sensor and an extra safety. The B Direct II can be used in production halls, hospitals, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, public transport and other locations.
“Luxibel products are very well packaged and thought out,” said Dodd. “The B Direct II has a lot of safety features, including a motion detector and multiple alarms, and can be permanently installed or used in portable configurations.”
Vero Shield has also purchased Luxibel’s B AIR V2 indirect UV-C air disinfection unit. It provides 24-hour air disinfection in the presence of people and animals and eliminates bacteria, viruses and fungal and mould spores in the air. This indirect UV-C air disinfection unit can be used in production halls, healthcare facilities, pharmacies, public transport and shops. It comes equipped with a B Nozzle as standard to use with Luxibel’s patented Mid-Air Disinfection System (MADS).
“We believe that air treatment and handling will be one of the major technologies going forward,” noted Dodd. “Instead of relying on central air systems, Luxibel’s approach treats air at a person’s closest point of exposure and can run 24/7 with people in the space. It’s great for venues whose large amount of infrastructure doesn’t allow for social distancing.”
Dodd finds the B AIR V2 to be “a very cost effective and flexible device. “It can be permanently installed hanging from a ceiling or mounted on rolling floor stands to easily move around offices,” he remarked.
Vero Shield’s first customers include Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and additional sports venues. “We’ve had a very positive response to the Luxibel units,” Dodd reported. “ACT Lighting has given us great support providing very quick and accurate answers to any questions we have. We make sure we give them feedback so we can help move the products and the technology forward.”
“Dodd Technologies and Vero Shield have been some of our most valued assets during the pandemic,” said Aaron Hubbard, Regional Sales Manager at ACT Lighting. “They’re great advocates and supporters of our Luxibel UV-C product line. “ACT Lighting is working diligently to keep up with the strong demand for air and surface disinfection products from all of our manufacturers,” Hubbard concluded.
