d&b audiotechnik received recognition and an award at the German Awards for Sustainability Projects (Deutscher Award für Nachhaltigkeitsprojekte) in the Recycling Category, at a June 9th ceremony in Berlin. The award recognised d&b’s CPO (Certified Pre-Owned) programme, which offers customers the opportunity to purchase remanufactured d&b systems.
The award, which aims to honour sustainable commitments by companies, focuses on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations in the areas of people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership. The goal of the awards programme is to promote sustainable engagement at all levels — from micro-enterprises to associations and initiatives to large corporations — thus inspiring other companies and institutions to start their own sustainability projects.
In 2020, d&b launched its CPO programme to reduce the environmental impact of touring and fixed installations. The programme allows customers to reap the benefits of a rider-friendly sound reinforcement system to enhance the reputation of venues and events while also contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emission and consumption of raw materials.
“We all have a part to play in ensuring the long-term survival of our planet. This responsibility weighs on us both as individuals and as businesses,” said Robert Trebus, d&b Director of Sustainability. “We’re conscious of the impact that the entertainment industry, in particular, has on the environment and are taking steps to mitigate it. Extending the life of our loudspeaker systems is a small but powerful way of providing premium audio while protecting natural resources.”
d&b’s first CPO programme offering is the J-Series line array loudspeakers, an established large-format system which continues to tour globally and deliver sonic performance that’s proved itself suitable for any event style or genre. CPO programme systems come with accessories, service, finance and the same support advantages customers would get when purchasing a new system. A J8-CPO loudspeaker produces approximately 80% less CO2e than building a completely-new J8 loudspeaker.
d&b’s expansion of the CPO remanufacturing programme to the next product series is planned for 2022.
