Glen Rowe Appointed Backstage Academy Managing Director

Award-winning MUSE Tour Director and Founder of Cato Music, Glen Rowe, has been appointed Managing Director of Backstage Academy with immediate effect.
Backstage Academy is a centre of excellence for the future of the live industry, created solely for the next generation of touring and creative professionals. Located next door to Europe’s largest production campus, Production Park, the Academy continues to provide real-life training and exciting employment opportunities for students.
Rowe’s appointment brings his successful Cato Academy – the only “Roadie School” in the world – under the educational umbrella of Backstage Academy. The two Academies will continue to provide the best-in-class short courses and degree courses respectively for students wishing to undertake careers in the live events and live music sectors.
Commenting on his appointment, Backstage Academy Chairman and Founder – Adrian Brooks said, “We are beyond excited to announce Glen as the new Managing Director of Backstage Academy. Back in 2009 when we came up with this small idea for educating people in our wonderful industry, never in my wildest dreams did I think that it would one day become such a force as to attract someone like Glen Rowe.
“His passion for industry-focused education and unparalleled experience in touring and production will undoubtedly benefit our ambitious plans for the future. He will lead us as we continue to challenge the norm within education and will bring an infectious energy to the place in a way that only Glen can.”
Adding to Brooks’ comments, Glen Rowe said, “I was blown away by Backstage Academy the moment I walked through its doors. To now be responsible for leading its strategic development as well as expanding its industry links is an absolute privilege. We have huge plans for the place so watch this space!”
Having just won Tour Manager of the Year at the 2016 Live Music Business Awards, Rowe will remain active within touring and production, supporting great musical talent whilst also championing a number of charitable causes through his charity, Cato Trust.
