He was not just a professional; he was a true “Lichtmensch” – a passionate advocate for the power of light in storytelling and performance.
“We remember him not only for his professional acumen but also for his personal qualities. He was a man of kindness, and compassion, always putting others before himself. Whether he was mentoring a colleague, sharing his deep knowledge during a debate, or simply enjoying a meal with friends, Riku’s presence was deeply felt and will be sorely missed,” MA Lighting commented.
Kauppinen’s final wish was to have his ashes scattered at sea, allowing him to continue to travel the world, one of the things he loved so much. He also felt that it allows everyone to light a candle by the sea and have a moment with him whenever and wherever.
His legacy in the industry will endure through the countless lives he touched and the innovations he championed.
“The void left by Kauppinen’s passing is immeasurable, and our thoughts are with his family & friends during this difficult time. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable individual, we also celebrate the impact he had on our industry and the enduring friendships he forged.”
