Audio visual production supplier SFL puts a great value on education and sharing the considerable knowledge within its team. To this end, it runs a series of courses that are open for anyone working in the audio industry to attend.
“We believe that education is vital and running these courses is a great way for SFL to share its knowledge with the industry and we find it extremely rewarding,” said SFL Project Manager Harvey Appleton, who is one of the course teachers. “This is why we have developed a range of courses that focus around the equipment we use most frequently and subjects, such as live audio for churches, where which we know can be challenging, particularly for those that don’t have years of experience.”
Courses include a Yamaha Networked Audio Systems Workshop, DiGiCo SD Consoles Training, Midas PRO Series Consoles and an Introduction to Live Audio For Church, all of which include a combination of theory and practical, hands on experience over either one or two days.
The Yamaha workshop is an exciting opportunity to get hands on with the latest Yamaha equipment, covering a broad set of important industry skills – from networking and Dante to console operation and integration with a variety of Dante products, whilst the DiGiCo SD consoles training is a great introduction for sound engineers and system technicians wanting to get up to speed on the series, learning about the consoles, racks and MADI systems.
The Midas PRO Series Consoles Training day is a great introduction for sound engineers and system technicians wanting to get up to speed on the series, learning about the consoles, DL stageboxes and interconnectivity, and the Introduction to Live Audio for Church is a fast paced and ever popular training course live audio veterans from the SFL team give you the complete run down on running a sound system in your church.
The course is suitable for complete beginners looking to get started or experienced engineers who want to brush up on their skills and plug knowledge gaps. It is also ideal for volunteer church tech operators, ministers or church staff who may occasionally have to operate audio equipment, as well as musicians or worship leaders seeking to better understand what your sound operator actually does.
“Attending SFL’s recent Yamaha workshop was a fantastic opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into both Yamaha and Dante in a productive but light-hearted and energetic environment,” said freelance sound engineer, Benjamin Thomas-Lewin. “The Staff running the course were incredibly knowledgeable and the implementation of both theoretical and an impressive amount of practical teaching helped to build a solid foundation of knowledge.”
