Main Light West Hires Steve Nancarrow as Rental Executive

Steve Nancarrow joins Main Light as Rental Executive for Main Light West.

Main Light has hired Steve Nancarrow to be the Rental Executive based at the new Main Light West in Las Vegas, NV. Nancarrow’s responsibilities will include business development and client interfacing with professional production companies on the West Coast.

“I’m honoured to be here. Main Light has an excellent reputation in the business and everyone here are among the best,” said Nancarrow. “That is what I love about this industry, first and foremost, the people in it. It’s a vast industry but it’s a small community representing that industry and you end up seeing the same professionals over and over again. Professionals who are highly dedicated, highly professional, and highly skilled, and that certainly includes the people at Main Light. After 27 years, the people that I’ve come across and the friendships that we’ve developed are what I appreciate the most. And, I am looking forward to working with many of those people as Main Light customers, but also meeting new people and helping them get the gear they need; backing up the many different companies Main Light works with on the many interesting projects happening all the time in our industry.”

Main Light General Manager, Randy Mullican commented: “Steve is a great fit for our Main Light team. He knows the business, he has great relationships with so many people in the industry, especially on the West Coast, and he is committed to getting customers what they need to make their show a success. With his almost three decades of experience in a busy production house, Steve really brings a deep understanding of our customers and I know he will provide them with Main Light’s highest quality of customer service. We all welcome Steve to the Main Light team.”

Nancarrow previously worked for 27 years at PRG Las Vegas, most recently holding the position of Entertainment Lighting Representative. “I started in 1994, it was Cinema Services at the time, this was about two years before it became PRG, but actually at the time I thought I was getting a job at a shop called Encore,” he explained. “I had just moved to Las Vegas and wanted to get into the industry, and my cousin, who was in the film business, suggested that I find a lighting house in Las Vegas.

He reminisced: “I found Encore in the phone book, they did movie and effects work, so when I was trying to find my way to the shop, with a paper map back then, I saw an Encore truck and I thought I’d follow it back to HQ. The truck pulled up to a building, the driver went in, so I followed him into the shop. I ran into a guy who turned out to be Pat Little and asked if they were hiring; they were, and he said I should go start pulling cables. When I got my first paycheck I was surprised when it said ‘Cinema Services’ not Encore. The driver from Encore had just been picking up gear, but that’s how I got into this industry. I went into the wrong building, but it ended up working out for me because I stayed for 27 years.

He concluded: “That’s why I love this industry, it’s unique and the work is interesting and you never know what you will learn that day; there is always a new challenge. And now I am excited to be part of starting this new location up with Main Light working with everyone here. All of us at Main Light are focused on making sure that people can feel confident when they call us that they will get great service and the gear they need.”
