disguise has announced the launch of the gx 3, a new generative video playback server that allows creatives to break new ground with Notch graphics – the standard for generative content in live entertainment.
Whether it’s for a concert tour, esports competition, or a theme park ride, the gx 3 ensures live events professionals have everything needed to make experiences more immersive than ever before. Thanks to the advanced GPU processing capabilities of the NVIDIA A6000, the gx 3 is capable of generating over 53,000 Notchmarks: the highest result from a media server yet. This additional processing power enables users to unlock new potential in generative content, such as facial tracking, simulation and buffer effects or even AI background removal for IMAG.
The new machine, which is the latest development in disguise’s powerful gx range of machines engineered to push generative content to new heights, has already attracted the attention of disguise’s global user and partner community, with companies such as All Of It Now, Fuse, Solotech, Colonel Tom Touring, VideoDesign, Lang UK, QED, MooTV, ArkVentures and TOEI among its early adopters.
Danny Firpo, co-founder of creative agency All Of It Now, who have relied on the gx 3 to power Motley Crue’s US Stadium Tour in the Summer of 2022 said: “The gx 3 is a multipurpose tool, enabling more integrated xR workflows, live shows, and more output capabilities, and we’re excited to use it on this tour moving forward.”
The gx 3 is also the most versatile media server released by disguise yet, providing a single-box solution for small to medium-scale extended reality productions looking to run immersive visual experiences of the highest level.
Raed Al Tikriti, Chief Product Officer at disguise, said, “Supporting the most captivating live shows on the planet is part of the fabric that makes disguise. As the demand for complex generative video content grew, we saw that there was an increased need for media servers that could reliably support real-time graphics at low levels of latency. This inspired us to develop our most versatile and flexible single-box solution yet. The gx 3 will enhance and support productions across any application, from live events to location-based experiences to xR, as users continue to push the boundaries of the possible.”
The gx 3 includes a two-year Notch license as standard and owners will also have access to two Notch blocks designed exclusively to test out on the new machine. Video playback and 4K xR compositing performance have improved significantly over the gx 2c model with the inclusion of next-generation components, including a new PCIe 4.0 motherboard, latest-gen CPU and greatly increased storage capabilities.
The machine also features three 12G inputs for 4K video and three 4K VFC card outputs, offering more video throughput while also preparing for the future requirements of live shows. It also includes two 100GbE network ports as standard.
Alex Leinster, Managing Director at UK-based video service provider VideoDesign says “disguise creative technology has been an ever evolving part of Video Design’s DNA since day one. The next logical step, the gx 3, has just arrived and we couldn’t be more delighted.”
