BikeFest, the fundraising cycle event, will return to Spain for a second year from 27 to 29 January 2023, cycling up to 400km towards ISE in Barcelona. By doing so, the BikeFest team will raise money for industry charity Backup Tech and create lasting friendships across the live events and AV industries.
Organised by PLASA, #WeMakeEvents and AFIAL, the growing BikeFest team is seeking new members to join them for the upcoming ride, as well as sponsors who are interested in aligning with important industry values. Furthermore, those who wish to support the event from afar can donate or buy branded merchandise.
The three-day route will begin in Valencia and travel along the stunning Mediterranean coast via Peñiscola and Tarragona toward Barcelona. Once at ISE, the BikeFest team will be invited to a drinks reception and presented with their medals, where they can celebrate their achievement and network with like-minded industry peers.
People can sign up for the full 400km route or join in for the last leg on day three which is a more manageable 95km. As part of the entry fee, team members will receive meals and accommodation. Plus, a support vehicle will be on hand throughout the route and specialist bikes are available for hire.
Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available for those companies who want to align their brand to the cause. With additional team members and sponsors, the BikeFest team hopes to exceed what they raised last year. Once the basic event costs are covered, Backup will use these vital funds to help industry professionals who are in need due to ill health or financial hardship.
Nicky Greet, Membership, Skills & Technical Director for PLASA and member of the #WeMakeEvents steering group, said: “BikeFest has become a fantastic annual event, bringing together people from across the industry. Not only are we raising money for a very worthy cause, we are having a great time whilst doing it. If you’re interested but overwhelmed by the three-day challenge, you can join in for just one day, making BikeFest much more accessible for all abilities. Whichever option you choose, I look forward to seeing you on the road!”
Juan Jose Vila, CMO and COO of Equipson and leader of #WeMakeEvents Spain, added: “Last year’s BikeFest Spain was a triumph. And we welcomed new team members, some of whom had very little cycling experience, demonstrating our inclusive values. And by finishing at ISE Barcelona, BikeFest is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of our industry. It’s an amazing journey, so if you’re up for the challenge, I invite you to join us in January!”
